Organosilicon chemistry is unforgiving about trace metals. Iron and calcium carried on the silicon feed migrate into chlorosilane fractions and shorten catalyst life, which is why organic silicone manufacturing gravitates toward the cleanest grades a smelter produces. Metallic silicon 1101 — Si 99.79% with Fe and Al at 0.1% and Ca at 0.01% — sits at the top of that purity ladder, while 2202 (Si 99.58%) serves as the slightly leaner alternative. The supply chain is deliberately short. Quartz and carbon reductant enter the submerged-arc furnace, the tapped silicon is refined and cast, and the resulting lumps are sized and bagged without intermediate traders touching the material. The works operates under ISO 9001 with per-lot analysis at release. High-purity grades travel in 1 MT big bags, and a 20' container typically carries 20–25 MT of sized lump.
