Ferrosilicon 75% & 72% Granules for Foundry Inoculation and Metallurgical Use

In the foundry, ferrosilicon earns its keep after the melt is ready — at inoculation. ZHENAN supplies FeSi 75 and FeSi 72 as screened granules in the tight size windows inoculation actually needs: 0–3 mm for late and stream inoculation, 3–10 mm for ladle treatment, with finer foundry splits such as 0.3–1 / 1–3 / 3–8 mm sieved to order. Granule size controls when the inoculant dissolves and how long the inoculation effect survives until pouring, so we treat size as a specification, not an afterthought: every lot is screened, oversize and fines are controlled, and the two grades are analysed and packed separately. Whether you run gray iron brake castings or ductile iron pipe, you can match grade and granulometry to your base iron, your treatment method and your pouring interval — and buy both grades in one order.

Product Details
Place of Origin China (Anyang, Henan)
Brand ZHENAN
Certification ISO9001
Model Number FeSi 75% / FeSi 72% granules
Specifications — Two Grades Listed Separately, Never Blended
Grade Si (%) Al (%) C (%) P (%) S (%) Form
FeSi 75 ≥75.0 ≤1.5 ≤0.2 ≤0.04 ≤0.02 Granules
FeSi 72 ≥72.0 ≤2.0 ≤0.2 ≤0.04 ≤0.02 Granules
  • Standard granule sizes: 0–3 mm and 3–10 mm; foundry splits 0.3–1 / 1–3 / 3–8 mm available on request.
  • Screening control: oversize and fines limited by sieve check before packing; size report supplied per lot.
  • Optional: low-aluminium FeSi 75 (Al ≤0.5%) for foundries that must restrict aluminium pickup in ductile iron.
  • Chemical composition and granulometry can be optimized to customer requirements; every lot ships with a certificate of analysis.
Applications
  • Inoculation of gray cast iron: promotes graphitization, prevents carbide (chill) formation and stabilizes machinability.
  • Inoculation support for ductile iron: used alongside spheroidizing treatment to promote graphite nodule formation and count.
  • Ladle, stream, in-mold and late inoculation: granulometry selected to suit each treatment point and pouring interval.
  • Deoxidation in induction furnaces: fine granules dissolve quickly for melt conditioning before treatment.
  • General metallurgical use: silicon adjustment of iron melts where a fast-dissolving, accurately metered addition is required.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which granule size should I use for late inoculation?

Finer granules such as 0.3–1 mm or 0–3 mm dissolve fast, which suits late and stream inoculation close to pouring; 3–10 mm suits ladle treatment where the melt travels before pouring. We confirm the split against your treatment method before quoting.

FeSi 72 or FeSi 75 for inoculation — which one?

FeSi 72 is the traditional inoculant grade with a long foundry track record; FeSi 75 gives more silicon per kilo added where a higher Si pickup is intended. The aluminium limits differ (≤2.0% vs ≤1.5%), so we keep the choice explicit against your ductile iron requirements.

How do you control granulometry?

Every lot is sieve-checked before packing and the size distribution is reported on the certificate of analysis.

Is ferrosilicon the same as a spheroidizing agent?

No. Ferrosilicon granules inoculate; spheroidizing (nodularizing) of ductile iron is handled by magnesium-bearing agents such as FeSiMg. The two are used together in ductile iron lines, and we supply both.

How should granules be stored?

Keep bags dry and off the floor; ferrosilicon should not be exposed to moisture. We recommend covered, ventilated storage and use of the moisture-proof packing option for humid climates.

Can we order 25 kg bags for the foundry line?

Yes — 25 kg moisture-proof bags are available alongside 1 MT jumbo bags, and mixed packing in one shipment is supported.

Do you supply a sample with sieve analysis?

Yes, a laboratory sample including sieve analysis can be provided before a commercial order.

Tell us about your cast iron operation and we will match grade and granulometry:

  1. Base iron (gray / ductile) and typical section thickness of your castings;
  2. Treatment method (ladle / stream / in-mold / late) and pouring interval;
  3. Preferred granule window (0–3 / 3–10 mm, or custom split);
  4. Monthly tonnage and destination port.
