Ferro silicon Description
Ferrosilicon is a fundamental element in the steel production process. It is widely used as the deoxidizing agent and acts as an alloying element. This alloy is produced by the reduction of silica with coke in the presence of iron. Ferrosilicon with higher silicon content is made in submerge furnaces. The usual formulation of ferrosilicon contains 70 – 75% silicon with different grain sizes. The product does not demonstrate a hazard issue to health, safety, or environment when handled and stored. Today, China has the highest rate of ferrosilicon production in the world, followed by Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa. The Supplied ferrosilicon specification is shown in the below table.

Ferro Silicon Application
1. Ferrosilicon is often used as deoxidizer in steel- making.
2. Ferrosilicon also can be used as alloy elements join agent, which is widely used in low alloy steel, non- ferrous metal, bearing steel, heat-resistant steels and electrician silicon-steel.
3. It can be used as a reductant in ferroalloy production and chemical industry.
4. In iron industry it can be used as inoculant and nodulizer.
