Silicon carbide is increasingly becoming a casting method, and some smelting materials are still required. Not all SIC is suitable for casting. When buying silicon carbide, special casting silicon carbide should be purchased according to the requirements of the production of products. Product choice is different, such as casting gray cast iron, ductile cast iron and graphite cast iron when using silicon carbide.
The most widely used cast silicon carbide are 70# silicon carbide, 88# silicon carbide, and 90# silicon carbide. When casting, according to the control of the product, different grades of casting silicon carbide can produce different chemical reactions and effects. Cast products of different qualities, when the temperature is lower than 1620℃, the carbon in cast silicon carbide will act as a deoxidizing agent, thus reducing less fixed oxides, such as iron oxide and manganese oxide, through chemical reactions. When the temperature is higher than 1620℃ (such as melting), the silicon in silicon carbide will undertake all the deoxidation tasks, and carbon as a carburizing agent, its yield can reach 100%.
