Types of carburizer:
According to the casting purpose, it is divided into: ductile iron carburizing agent, gray iron carburizing agent, cast steel carburizing agent, and special steel carburizing agent.
1. Ductile iron carburizers generally use high-carbon and low-sulfur products of graphitized carburizers. The requirements for sulfur content are relatively strict. They are generally controlled at: S: ≤0.1%, S: ≤0.05%.
2. The main technical index difference between gray iron carburizer and ductile iron carburizer is the control of sulfur. The general index requirement is S: ≤0.5%.
3. The types of carburizers for steel casting (steelmaking) are relatively complex. Generally, large steel plants will choose a variety of carburizers according to different steel types, but the general materials are calcined coal and graphite particles or graphite balls, and natural graphite is also used. Crushed, the content ranges from 75%-99%.
Fixed carbon and ash are two contradictory parameters in the carburizing agent, and they are also two important parameters that affect the carburizing efficiency. If the fixed carbon content and ash content of the carburizing agent are high, the carburizing efficiency will be high; otherwise, the carburizing efficiency will be low.
The way the carburizer is added has a great impact on the carburizer absorption rate.
1. The carburizing agent is added into the furnace during charging
When charging, mix the carburizing agent with the charge and place it at the bottom and middle of the induction furnace. The carburizing agent is added into the furnace together with the metal charge during charging. Due to the long action time, the carburizing efficiency is higher than that added during tapping. It is much higher when the iron is liquid. The carbonization efficiency is high.
2. The carburizing agent is added into the furnace during charging
When tapping iron, adding carburizing agent to the ladle will have a much lower carburizing efficiency than adding it to the furnace.
