Ferrosilicon powder is the grinding of ferrosilicon alloy into powder and used as a deoxidizer in steelmaking and iron making.
If a certain amount of silicon is added to the steel, it is useful to incrementate the strength, hardness and elasticity of the steel. Thus, in the training of structural steel, tool steel, spring steel and transformer silicon steel, ferrosilicon powder is also used as an alloying agent and as a inoculant and spheroidizing agent in the cast iron industry.
The quantified ferrosilicon powder and metallurgical data in cast iron can inhibit the formation of carbides in iron and promote the spheroidization and spheroidization of graphite. Therefore, ferrosilicon powder is an important inoculant (conducive to graphite spheroidization) and spheroidization agent in the production of nodular cast iron.
It is used as reducing agent in ferroalloy production. Not only is the chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen very high, but high-silicon ferrosilicon powders also have a very low carbon content. Therefore, high-silicon ferrosilicon powder (or silicon alloy) is a reducing agent often used in the ferroalloy industry to produce low carbon ferroalloys.
