Graphite electrodes are high-temperature resistant graphite conductive materials. Do you know the applications and properties of graphite electrodes?
(1) Used in electric arc steelmaking furnaces
Graphite electrode materials are mainly used for electric furnace steelmaking. Electric furnace steelmaking utilizes graphite electrodes to introduce working current into the furnace. The powerful current generates arc discharge through the gas environment at the lower end of the electrodes, utilizing the heat generated by the arc for smelting. The size of the capacitance is equipped with electrodes of different diameters, which can be continuously used, relying on the connection between the electrode joints. Graphite electrodes used for steelmaking account for about 70 to 80% of the total consumption of graphite electrodes in China.
(2) Used in ore-smelting electric furnaces
They are mainly used for producing ferroalloy, pure silicon, yellow phosphorus, calcium carbide, and copper matte. The characteristic is that the lower part of the conductive electrode is buried in the charge, so in addition to the heat generated by the arc between the electrode and the charge, the current passing through the charge also generates heat due to the resistance of the charge.
(3) Used in resistance furnaces
Resistance furnaces, such as graphitization furnaces for graphite material products, melting furnaces for glass, and electric furnaces for producing silicon carbide, are all resistance furnaces. The materials loaded in the furnace are both heating resistors and heated objects.
(4) A large number of graphite electrode blanks are also used for processing into various crucibles, graphite boats, hot-press molds, vacuum furnace heating elements, and other special-shaped products.
