In the production of titanium rods, due to differences in materials and processes, we often need to perform surface treatment on some TC series titanium rods.
1. Fine grinding
That is, conventional various types of emery rubber wheels are used to grind the surfaces of titanium and titanium-containing alloy castings. The issues that need to be paid attention to when grinding are still not to generate heat in the casting, not to cause grinding damage on the surface of the casting, and to make the entire surface flat and smooth.
2. Barrel grinding method
The so-called barrel grinding method is to put the processed casting, abrasive, water and additives into the barrel grinding tank. The grinding barrel generates rotation and vibration, causing friction between the abrasive mixture and the processed casting to grind the surface of the casting smoothly. ,smooth. It is characterized by no dust pollution, low labor intensity, and no heat generation during conventional grinding. Currently, Japan has commercialized barrel grinders and abrasives for grinding titanium and titanium-containing alloy castings, other metal castings, and plastics. It has been confirmed by experiments that the pk series abrasives have the highest grinding efficiency, but the surface roughness is also the highest. Although the grinding efficiency of SA and B series abrasives is not as good as PK, the surface smoothness of the ground titanium castings is the highest. At present, the Fourth Military Medical University has successfully developed the first dental barrel grinder in China.
3. Mechanical polishing method
Use soft cloth wheels or black brushes of different specifications, dipped in special polishing paste for titanium and titanium-containing alloys to polish the surface of titanium and titanium alloys. When polishing titanium castings, it is necessary to completely clear the contamination layer on the surface of the casting and the new grinding and hardening layer, otherwise the ideal polishing effect will not be achieved. When polishing, high speed and light pressure are still used. The author has also tried using green polishing paste to polish titanium and titanium-containing alloy castings, and achieved relatively ideal polishing results. Polished titanium and titanium-containing alloy castings cannot be washed with water immediately. The surface oxide film must be completely formed before washing, otherwise the surface will darken.
