Ferromanganese is divided into low carbon ferromanganese, medium carbon ferromanganese, high carbon ferromanganese: general low carbon ferromanganese manganese content is 80%, carbon content is 0.4%-0.7%, medium carbon ferromanganese manganese content is 75%-78%, carbon content is 1.5%-2.0%, high carbon ferromanganese manganese content is 65%-75%, carbon content is 5-10%.
Ferromanganese is an iron alloy composed of manganese and iron. Its chemical properties are relatively active. When added to liquid steel, it can form oxidation slag with ferrous oxide, which floats on the surface of liquid steel and reduces the oxygen content in steel. The affinity of manganese and sulfur is also greater than that of iron and sulfur. When added to the liquid steel, manganese sulfide can be formed and turned into slag and discharged, thus reducing the sulfur content in steel, increasing the malleability and tie ability of steel, and improving the strength and wear resistance of steel. As a deoxidizer, desulfurizer and alloy additive in steel, fermanganese is the most used kind of iron alloy.
