There are a lot of CaO and MgO in ferroalloy slag and soot, so it can be used as desulfurizer to desulfurize molten steel. Jiao Qian et al. used a desulfurizer composed of 15%-20% Si-Ca alloy slag, 6%-8% Mn-Si alloy slag and other related ingredients to desulfurize molten steel, and the desulfurization effect could reach more than 70%.
There are a lot of metals and silicon carbide in ferrosilicon slag and silico-chrome slag, the amount of which is about 30%. Smelting power consumption can be significantly reduced and element recovery can be improved by using slag in silicon-manganese alloy and high carbon ferrochrome furnace. The use of 75% ferrosilicon slag instead of ferrosilicon powder as diffusion deoxidizer in steelmaking can not only shorten the reduction period of electric furnace, but also reduce the power consumption and save the cost.
