Classification Methods of Ferro Titanium
Ferro titanium is classified based on chemical composition, production methods, and application-specific formulations:
1. By Chemical Composition
High-Grade Ferro Titanium (FeTi70):
Titanium content: 65%-75%
Impurities: Al ≤ 0.5%-5%, Si ≤ 0.5%.
Medium-Grade Ferro Titanium (FeTi40):
Titanium content: 35%-45%
Impurities: Al ≤ 9.5%, Si ≤ 4.0%.
Low-Grade Ferro Titanium (FeTi30):
Titanium content: 25%-35%
Impurities: Al ≤ 8.5%, Si ≤ 5.0%.
2. By Production Methods
Remelting of Titanium Scrap:
Produces high-grade FeTi70 using vacuum arc remelting (VAR) or induction furnaces.
Aluminothermic Reduction:
Reduces titanium ores (e.g., ilmenite) with aluminum to produce FeTi30 and FeTi40.
Electro-Aluminothermic Process:
Combines electrical energy and aluminum reduction for specialized grades.
3. By Composite Alloy Types
Multi-Element Alloys:
Ti-Si-Fe: Enhances deoxidation and grain refinement.
Ti-B-Al-V/Ti-B-Al-Cr: Improves castability and high-temperature stability.
